Pampered Chef

In August, hosts receive 60% off forged cutlery or the new grinders with the peppercorn medley and coarse sea and Himalayan salt.  Cookware is 60 % off in September.  Contact me at pikepc@yahoo.com.

Recipe of the Month

One pot Pasta (a great back to school recipe ready in 20 minutes and it only uses one pot!)

4 large garlic cloves, peeled

1 jar of sun-dried tomatoes in oil, undrained or a can of diced tomatoes drained

3 cans (14.5 oz) chicken broth

1 lb uncooked penne pasta

1 head broccoli

2 medium carrots

4 oz reduced fat cream cheese

1/4 tsp salt

1/2 tsp coarse ground black pepper

Parmesan cheese grated and fresh snipped basil optional

1. Press garlic using the garlic press. Place garlic 1 tbsp oil from the sun-dried tomatoes in bottom of large pan.  Cook over medium heat 2-3 minutes or until garlic is golden brown stirring occasionally.  Remove from heat and add broth.  Return to burner, turn on high, cover and bring to boil. Add pasta.  Cover and simmer 8-10 minutes or until pasta is almost cooked.  Stirring occasionally.

2. Meanwhile, cut broccoli into small florets, place into a large bowl.  Cut carrots in half lengthwise and then slice crosswise on a bias.  Drain tomatoes, pat dry, and slice into thin strips.  Add carrots and tomatoes to your bowl.

3. Cut cream cheese into cubes, add veggies, cream cheese, salt and pepper to stockpot.  Stir until cheese is melted and fully incorporated.  Reduce heat to medium, cover and cook an additional 2-4 minutes or until veggies are tender.

4. Serve immediately.  Top with grated Parmesan and fresh basil if desired.

Should Grooms Go to Bridal Shows?

Filed under: Bridal Showers, Bridal Shows — Editor - The Big Wedding Blog @ 9:50 am

I’ve observed over the years that very few grooms attend bridal shows. Normally the bride attends with her mother and/or some of her bridesmaids. The question being posed here…..Is this a good thing?

I say, YES. A grooms role in the wedding planning process should be one of support and help with general planning. In the American culture, a wedding is “all about the bride”.

If you see a groom who is trying to involve himself in the small details of the wedding planning, I believe thats an indication of possible future problems. In most successful marriages, the couple divides duties and responsibilities according to their interests or an agreed upon division of tasks. Planning a wedding is no different. So, if the groom is not an active participant, that does not indicate a problem. To the contrary, it can mean that he is fully suportive of letting his bride enjoy pursuing her interests without him needing to control and manipulate every detail. This is healthy.

A big part of a bridal show is the “fashion show”. This is the woman’s domain. In American culture, it’s tradition that the groom does not see the wedding dress, or at least see the bride in the dress, untill the day of the wedding. That’s another reason for the groom to stay away.

So, enjoy the bridal shows. Take your friends, take your mom, the groom should stay home.

Don’t Forget Your Bachelorette Party!

I’ve been doing Passion Parties for over a year now, and I’ve done a ton bachelorette parties and bridal showers, it just seems to fit perfectly! I have so much fun doing this, and it seems like everyone that comes to my parties has a great time, too!

These parties are for everyone. From timid and shy, to totally out there, everyone that comes to a Passion Party finds something that fits.  For some, the bath and body products are their favorite part, and for others it’s the toys. I show it all, and ladies get to taste and feel a lot of products the night of the party.

The best part is that there’s no cost to you, other than a little bit of food, and the bride (or hostess) can get FREE and discounted products simply for having a party!

Remember to plan your party early! Although there are people available for last minute parties, it’s best to get things ready in advance. Just today I had a lady call me about a party for this Saturday that I can’t do. Now I have to search for someone that can do a party at the last minute. For me, it’s best if I get to know my hostess a bit before the party, so that I know what type of crowd I’ll be expecting, and that she’ll get everyone excited about the party!

Check out my website www.PassionLadiesNightIn.com to schedule a party today,  call me anytime at 336-554-6039, or you can e-mail me anytime at angela.yourpassionconsultant@yahoo.com

Trends in Bridal Showers

Filed under: A Rachel Reeves BLOG, Bridal Showers — Rachel Reeves - BrideAndGroomPlanner.com @ 11:38 am

The days of the toilet paper wedding dress and breaking bows to determine how many kids you will have are gone. Bridal showers no longer need to be about quiche and butter cream cakes. Lots of brides are opting for something a little less traditional for their bridal showers. Here are a few out of the box ideas for your shower.

Spa Party

You and your guests can be pampered with massages and facials as they celebrate your upcoming nuptials. Many spas will offer packages and have relaxation rooms where you can bring in lunch and beverages.

Paint Your Pottery

Check out your town for a local pottery shop. You can have your guests design and paint pre-select plates, vases, serving bowls etc. You can decide on the colors and let your guests put there mark on the dishes you will use everyday.

Get Cooking

Cooking schools and classes are popping up in cities everywhere. You don’t have to be a culinary student to have fun at a cooking class. Get a group of girls together and learn how to whip up some yummy treats. Don’t worry if boiling water is a challenge for you, that’s the point of the lesson!

Couples Shower

Why should you have all the fun!! Include your future hubby in the festivities. Making a shower coed turns it into more of a cocktail party atmosphere. Rest assured that there will be no toilet paper wedding dresses at these parties.
